Spencer Reid is a genius. He has an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, and can read over 20,000 words per minute. He has earned three PhDs and three BAs, and has held down a position as a criminal profiler in the BAU of the FBI for three years now.

However, despite his genius, Spencer can be extremely awkward and socially inept, especially around large groups of people. His quirky, chipper attitude is often flavoured with overenthusiasm, especially when rambling about a subject that interests him, as well as random facts and statistics that are usually interjected whether the receiver is listening or not. He is also infamous for his clumsy nature, and his ability to constantly have bad luck on the job.

Standing at just under six feet, Spencer is tall and lanky without much of a build to speak of. His muscles are slender, his skin so pale that anyone who didn't know him would assume he was ill. His face sports a sharp, defined jawline, delicate nose, thin lips and cheekbones, and large, dark-brown eyes that appear innocent and naive despite what they've seen. His ashy-chestnut hair always looks long overdue for a cut, and he wears it swept to one side, tucked behind both ears.

Spencer's dress sense strongly resembles that of a high school nerd, and sometimes it's hard to gauge his age solely from his clothes. He typically wears slacks with shirts and knitted vests, sleeves rolled up and collars loosened. Other various items in his closet include cardigans, blazers, cords, suit vests, ties and knitted jumpers. He also refuses to match his socks.

Spencer is arriving in Haurvatat from right at the beginning of season two of Criminal Minds, after seeing his mother for the first time in years and sending her back to the mental institution.
